Solid state qubits for quantum computation

It is well known that the current computation schemes will soon hit serious limits, and miniaturization cannot be continued. Therefore news schemes of computation are envisioned, where the novel paradigms could lead to increased computational powers, rather than the increase of the number of transistors. Maybe the most prominent of these novel schemes is quantum computation, where the information is stored in quantum mechanical two level systems. In this talk I will give a short overview of the solid state based quantum computational architectures and also present the one we plan to realize within the National Quantum Program.
